Planck Telescope Space Poem New and Free

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Hi, it’s Green here.  It feels a bit strange being here all alone, after Grey left to travel Australia.  I hope it keeps in touch, and I hear from it soon.

I noticed our ol’ partner, Marc Latham, has been journeying through the universe on the Planck telescope, and it inspired a new space poem.

It doesn’t seem fair: they’re off having exciting adventures, and I’m stuck here holding the fort, but I suppose I get to talk to you lot more, so that’s one big positive.  Cheers.

Free New Poem Using Alphabet as Cue up on FMPoetry

Friday, May 28th, 2010

This week I put a new Folding Mirror poem up on the fmpoetry poetry website  using all the letters of the alphabet to start each of the twenty-six words.

Free New Poem Using Alphabet

The 26 letters run consecutively from A-Z, and are mirrored in a 5-4-3 (2) 3-4-5 formation.

Moreover, the five words in the outer lines all have five letters; the four words in the next lines in have four letters each; and the same for the threes and twos.

Using the Free Online Dictionary

All the words are found in the freedictionary.com (to save you looking them up as I did, vapid means: Lacking taste, zest, or flavor; flat. xeric means: Relating or adapted to an extremely dry habitat. Succulents such as cacti, aloes, and agaves are xeric plants) and hopefully make some sense together, although you might have to make it up yourself!?

The Poem

Alphabetica Mirroretica

above broad crags delve elves
fear goat hell imps
jar kit lid
me no
our pro quo
road star take unto
vapid waked xeric yawns zesty

British Politics and Coalition Government Poem

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Today’s blog features a Folding Mirror poem about the deal made between the Conservative (Tories) and Liberal-Democrat political parties after last week’s British general election as its topic.

The coalition seems to be going well so far, and so well in fact that the media have today been comparing the two leaders, David Cameron and Nick Clegg, to legendary comedy double act, Morcambe and Wise, after yesterday’s joint conference.

They do seem a good partnership, and seem to be talking mostly good sense at the moment, so I hope they can dig Britain out of its current economic woes while also preserving the environment.

The poem rhymes a bit and the subjects of each line (outer and outer etc) and the word count (7-6-7-8-4-4 (10) 4-4-8-7-6-7) mirror.

The Poem

British Electorate Reunite Long Lost Political Twins

David Cameron is the new Tory PM
the highest office of Great Britain
the blue flag moved into Downing Street
a most British revolution the media see it
coalition politics with commonsense
not sleazy scandal selfishness

the British public cross their fingers, one over the other

the people attended first
we’re over recession worst
nice to see you to see you nice
the yellow banner makes you look twice
the deputy job bartered for pact
Nick Clegg is Liberal DM double act

Hi, I’ve got a free new article about the Gulf of Mexico oil spill on Suite 101.

There’s also a new Folding Mirror poem about the different views and contexts that a plane has when it lands at the fmpoetry poetry website.

I’ve also got a new video with excellent views of Everest, the Himalayas and Gokyo’s turquoise lakes from the top of Gokyo Ri on YouTube.

Greenygrey Refutes Ricky Martin Comparisons in Gender Controversy

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

How is Ricky Martin linked with the Greenygrey; and Wonders of the Solar System with South Park?  Find out today at the Greenygrey.

Ricky Martin and the Greenygrey links

We all know that Ricky Martin sang about la vida loca, and GG is a bit of a crazy lobo, but after Ricky Martin this week announced he was gay we here at the Greenygrey sense that you may be gossiping at an office style location about how you have known the Greenygrey for so long but don’t even know its gender yet, let alone its sexuality.  Well, to tell you the truth, I haven’t been that close to find out, and GG ain’t telling!

Wonders of the Solar System and South Park in One Poem

Yes, that’s right, through the magic of the Folding Mirror 3-d format, we can bring you a poem that combines the high culture of the Wonders of the Solar System documentary series with the utterly outrageous gutter humour of the South Park comedy show, with a link in the middle.  Intrigued?  You bloody well should be.  It’s over at the fmpoetry site this very moment, just waiting for your perusal.

Thanks for all your visits in March, watch out for any April Fool jokes, and GG will be here tomorrow to reveal the website March statistics…but not its gender!

Nepal Lake and Cairns Poem and WWF Earth Hour

Friday, March 26th, 2010

I went to an interesting and inspirational conference in Leeds yesterday, and got lots of good advice and information about directing the Greenygrey the right way.  Not that you’d think it’d need it, after its epic rambles across North America.

New Nepal Himalayas Lakes and Cairns Poem

Claire Knight has created a great new Folding Mirror poem about Nepal’s beautiful lakes and the stone cairns left by travellers and trekkers in the Himalayas, and its on the fmpoetry website from the above link.

WWF Earth Hour

This Saturday the 27th, the WWF are asking everybody to cut their energy use from 8.30 to 9.30 pm for the WWF Earth Hour.

So, if it’s practical, please try and join in.  Although there’s been some controversy about global warming research lately, it’s really in everybody and everything’s interest to try and keep the planet clean and use as little energy as possible.  And you save money!

New Motley Crue Articles / Arts and Minds Newsletter

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Hi, ML here.  My three hour run went well yesterday, and hopefully I can now wind down to my third marathon.  I’ve posted a couple of articles about Motley Crue in the 1980s on Suite 101, and my  Space from Singularity Expanding Universe image poem has been published along with a little bio in the Leeds Arts and Minds newsletter.  Cheers, and have a great week!

Alice in Wonderland Poem

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Hi, it’s GG again.  I hope you’ve already read today’s blog about Eddie Izzard’s marathon running television documentary series.  I’ve something more to tell you.

As you may be aware, Tim Burton’s interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland  film goes on general release in the UK today, and Marc Latham wrote a Folding Mirror poem about it for the fmpoetry site, which is where the above links leads.

Marc told me the Alice in Wonderland story has some parallels with my epic travel Rambles, but I’d never read it before, or even heard of the literary nonsense genre.  Strange isn’t it, they say fact is often stranger than fiction…

Everest Nepal Mountain Video and Space Trilogy Poetry

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Hi, hope you’re enjoying the spring so far.  I know it’s only two days old, but the sun and weather are behaving themselves here, so it’s been great so far…

Everest and Himalayas Mountains Video on YouTube

I’ve put a new video up on YouTube of my Himalayas mountain photos.

Space Trilogy Poetry Completed

Meanwhile over on fmpoetry I completed the Hubble Space Photos Trilogy, which includes three poems that represent horizontal, vertical and complete mirrors evident (to me anyway!) in galaxy and nebula photos from the telescope; as well as a theory about the birth and evolution of the universe.
