A Lesson in Ant Theory: BBC’s Sky at Night on Andromeda

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Thanks to the BBC’s Sky at Night for producing a clear and detailed programme about our nearest neighbouring galaxy, Andromeda.

As well as being a good addition to the ongoing development of Ant Theory on this blog it is a great introduction to galaxies and our close neighbours in the big space we are a part of (allegedly!).

It also provides good ideas on viewing the Milky Way galaxy that we are a part of, and that is visible in clear night skies.

The programme is viewable here at the moment.

We were hoping to bring you the big showdown between Planet Earth and Planet Saturn today, but we’re sorry to say that Planet Saturn has not showed up for the contest, so Planet Earth has been declared the winner by default.

We are continuing negotiations with Planet Saturn to get the big match back on.

Devil’s Whore

Friday, December 5th, 2008

It was the docs yesterday, and today I’m rambling on about the best drama series I’ve seen on television this year, or for many a year maybe, although my memory might be biased towards the current (green), as the previous might be grey in the ol’ grey matter now.

Yes, it’s hopefully informative viewing for all those who want to hate all Britain for its empire and colonialism.

About 400 years ago British people were battling for the freedom and human rights that are enjoyed in the country today, although the current state of the country suggests they weren’t successful enough, and that it might even be going backwards lately.

It’s also big on highlighting female status, and women’s rights, which is still an important issue in this country and even more so around the world.

It’s also got loads of greenygrey scenery.  I thought they might have visited this website, although it was planned 14 years ago and it was filmed in South Africa.

Links below, and have a great weekend!
